Motherhood, milestones, and mourning

As I neared the end of my maternity leave in August of last year, I started noticing a strange phenomenon. It'd happened occasionally during my first months of motherhood -- a sadness about passing milestones, but days and sometimes weeks after they'd happened. I started writing about it and talking with folks (shoutout to my dear friend Candace for being my "does this make sense?!?" reader). Eventually, that work became this essay.

I'm proud and excited to see it in Motherly today! Have a sec? Give it a read!
