Meet Kristin
Growing up, I had a knack for putting thoughts together in the stories I’d write with my friends and the sports articles I’d pen for the local paper. I also had an eye for improving others’ writing when editing my friends’ college essays or my father’s well-intentioned but rambling Christmas letter.
I’ve parlayed those skills into a career as an award-winning independent editorial content strategist.
But while I love to write, my favorite job title is “mom” to my two kids.
The highlight of my day is reading with them at bedtime. I love seeing how a lovable character, beautiful illustrations, and a compelling story can teach them about the world—and themselves—in ways few other things can.
That inspired me to write my first children’s book, Mortimer the Terrier’s Second Chance, which will be published in September 2025!
Some of my favorite roles…
Writing magazine profiles about fascinating and noteworthy women, including an Ironman triathlete, Miss Maryland, and the retiring CEO of the American Red Cross.
Running the alumni magazine for my undergrad alma mater, Elon University.
Building and managing the editorial team for Johns Hopkins University and Medicine’s (JHU) Division of Development and Alumni Relations.
Leading the development, launch, and content strategy of a $100,000 enterprise-wide website for JHU DAR.
Ghostwriting for healthcare organizations, tech companies, and consulting firms and learning so much about America’s healthcare and public health systems in the process.
A few non-work related things
I grew up outside Washington, D.C., and have an unhealthy devotion to the Capitals, Nationals, and Commanders.
I met my husband in our very first class in college at Elon University in North Carolina. We both wanted to be sportscasters. (Neither of us became one.)
As a Northern Virginia native, I grew up with a healthy bias against Maryland. But this year marks my 10th year living in Baltimore, and I will talk your ear off about how much I love this place.
But … if I could live anywhere in the world, it’d be my grandparents’ little old house on the shores of Arrowhead Lake in the Poconos.
